Photos or a complete inspection? What really stands up in court

A report based solely on photos may seem sufficient... until the case ends up in front of a judge. When it comes to in-ground pools, a summary analysis does not always hold water. Here is a case where comprehensive expertise in the field made all the difference in court.

Recently, a claims adjuster asked a competitor to assess the damage to his insured's pool, without going to the site, by looking only at the photos provided. The wear and tear was obvious and the insurer did not compensate its client.

The latter decided to take legal measures to make his point with his insurer. However, the claims adjuster could not present a summary report to the court based on photos alone. It's not serious.

The insurance company's prosecutors therefore asked Detecto to make a visit and a professional report, and to appear in court to present his expert opinion before the judge.
