A report based solely on photos may seem sufficient... until the case ends up in front of a judge. When it comes to in-ground pools, a summary analysis does not always hold water. Here is a case where comprehensive expertise in the field made all the difference in court.

Recently, a claims adjuster asked one of Détecto’s competitors to assess damage to an insured client’s pool based solely on photos, without visiting the site. The signs of wear were clear, and the insurer denied the claim.
The policyholder decided to take legal action to contest the insurer’s position. However, the claims adjuster could not present a summary report in court based only on photos. That kind of report simply does not carry enough weight.
The insurance company’s lawyers then asked Détecto to carry out an on-site inspection, prepare a professional report, and appear in court to present an expert opinion before the judge. Détecto’s evaluators are recognized by the court as expert witnesses, and once again, the opposing party lost its case in the face of the evidence presented by our specialist.
For remote cases or simple file reviews, an opinion by email can be entirely appropriate. But for in-ground pools in particular, an on-site inspection is always the best solution.
When you work with professionals, it pays off!
