At Détecto, it all starts with a simple belief: when a problem arises with a swimming pool, it is essential to understand its true cause.
For over 30 years, our team has been putting its expertise to work for insurers, professionals, and individuals to provide clear, objective, and thorough answers.
Over the years, this specialization has allowed us to inspect more than 15,000 swimming pools across Quebec and develop unique expertise in this field.

It was in a basement in Repentigny in 1995 that Claude Limoges and his wife Chantal founded Piscines Soudex, a company specializing in the repair of pool liners through welding.
Soon, insurance companies began asking them to explain the cause of certain damages observed among their policyholders. These initial assessments marked the beginning of a major shift for the company.
In just a few years, Soudex became a leader in the analysis of pool damage. The company then decided to move away from repairs to focus entirely on technical assessments and independent expert evaluations.
This shift allowed the company to maintain complete neutrality: with no vested interest in repair work, its analyses remain objective and rigorous
Over the years, demand continues to grow.
After about ten years in business, Claude Limoges invites two parachuting colleagues to join him in order to meet the increasing volume of mandates.
Claims adjusters now wait for analyses from Piscines Soudex before proceeding with claim settlements. The three partners then travel across the province to inspect swimming pools, assess damages, and produce professional reports for insurance companies.
In 2013, after several years of partnership, the founders decided to sell the company.
Julie Tremblay, an experienced entrepreneur, and her husband André, an engineering graduate, then acquired Piscine Soudex and renamed the company Détecto.
For several months, Claude Limoges and his team supported the new owners in transferring their know-how and working methods. Thanks to the rigorous documentation accumulated over the years, the transition took place naturally.
In 2018, Détecto undertook a major modernization of its processes.
The company implemented digital tools and improved case management to provide even more comprehensive and efficient reports. Thanks to these investments, Détecto can now guarantee professional reports within a maximum of 10 business days, even during the busiest periods.
In 2020, Détecto expanded its services to also support individual clients.
Since swimming pools fall outside the expertise of building inspectors, many buyers seek an independent assessment before purchasing a property. Détecto meets this need by offering specialized pre-purchase inspections for pools and spas.
Law firms also turn to the company when technical expertise is required in litigation cases.
Today, after more than 30 years of activity and over 15,000 pool inspections, Détecto has developed a unique expertise in Quebec.
The company is able to establish precise cause-and-effect relationships during its evaluations, enabling insurers, property owners, and legal professionals to make informed decisions.
Pool and spa evaluation is a highly specialized field. By choosing Détecto, you help preserve a rare and essential expertise in Quebec in the evaluation and understanding of aquatic installations.
In 2022, Simon, the son of Julie and André, joined the company to help preserve its valuable legacy.
After gaining extensive experience, he will officially take the reins of the company in March 2026. Détecto is therefore in good hands to continue its vital mission in Quebec, the world’s largest swimming pool market.
